Main Subject*: Biodiversity and Plant Physiology
Custom Subject: Biology, Physiology, Taxonomy of Plants and Biodiversity…
Specialization: ……………………………………………………
Program Description: The Master in Biodiversity and Plant Physiology offers training covering all aspects of plant biology, that is to say, from the functioning of plants at the level of their cells and molecules to the exploitation of their products through the plant as an organism interacting with its biotic and abiotic environment. Among the objectives of this master’s degree is to provide the student with complete theoretical and practical training, after which he will have mastered the principles of plant biology, cellular and molecular and ethnobotanical concepts and ethnopharmacology techniques for extracting and identifying secondary metabolites; the criteria for taxonomic identification as well as all the industrial aspects involved in the process of upgrading and industrial and commercial exploitation of natural substances.
Train students with the knowledge and skills required to integrate research and particularly to pursue studies at the doctoral level in the field of plant valorisation or in any other field of cell and molecular biology. Like all living beings, plants are assemblages of molecules and specialised cells. Based on general and more specific cellular and molecular biology teachings, the plant biology part presents plants’ development, metabolism, and defense reactions. However, using plant resources offers specific multidisciplinary courses in biology and physiology on an in-depth theoretical basis. It is, therefore, a course that primarily, but not exclusively, has a research orientation, that is to say, allowing access to doctoral studies.
